Nursing incomes vary depending on a couple of different factors. Your level of experience and the type of nursing designation you hold will both play a big role in what your income level will be. Not only that, but the institution you work for and it’s location will also be a determining factor in the rate of pay you receive.
The level of experience you have will play a role in the amount of income you receive as a nurse. This is simply because someone with more experience will be able to do the job quicker and more efficiently. They will also have more knowledge about the job they need to perform and will also be able to advice and providing coaching to those who are newly employed as a nurse. For this reason, the more experience you have as a nurse, the more money you can potentially earn in this career.
RNs (Registered Nurses) will receive a higher rate of pay than another type of nurse. For example, if you choose a CNA career, you will be at the bottom end of the nursing profession and therefore have a lesser responsibility. Lesser responsibilities require less schooling and study and therefore a lesser income. RNs will earn more money as a nurse because they have gone to school longer, learned more about the health care field, and have more responsibilities in their role as a nurse. They are more accountable and are also responsible for aspects of health care that are more important and of a sensitive nature.
The type of institution you work for will also determine your rate of pay. If you are working at a private hospital, you can expect to earn a higher level income as a nurse than you will for say an inner city public run hospital. Private clinics and doctor’s offices all vary in the rates they pay their nurses as well.
Location is a main factor in determining nursing pay. If you are working in a major city center then you are more likely to earn a higher level of income that working at a hospital in a small town or village. Working in a major city could mean that the job is more demanding though. You could be seeing more variety of patient needs in that environment as well as be seeing more patient visits altogether. If you are a nurse working in a hospital in North America, you will receive a greater income than a nurse working in a makeshift hospital in an poor African village.
The factors described above will all play a role in determining the level of income that you will receive as a nurse.
