There are some internal qualities that separate the successful forex traders from those who aren’t. Remember, pretty much everyone has the same access to information. We all have access to the news, economic reports and forex technical indicators. It’s really these qualities that set the winners and losers apart.
Purposeful Practicing
Too many traders underestimate the importance of practice trading. Even those who do use a forex trading demo before they start trading real money, most don’t take it seriously enough when they do.
Many traders use demo accounts and just go through the motions. After a few quick trading positions, they think they are ready. Many find out too late that they are not.
When successful traders practice, they trade like they are using real money. That is the only way to really get anything out of it. If you don’t, you might as well not do it at all. You should have the same intensity on a practice account than in real life.
In addition, most traders don’t show a consistent forex profit before they move on to real trading. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Why would anyone think they can make money in real life if they can’t from a virtual environment?
Business Minded
The other quality successful traders have is they treat this like a business, not like a hobby. If you’re doing this on the side for fun, that’s one thing. There’s nothing wrong with trading as a hobby.
If you’re serious about forex trading, you need to treat it like a business. That means you need to bring the same discipline, diligence and determination to currency trading than you would if you were starting your own business. In fact, this is in essence starting your own business.
This is not a game to those are make money from this. If this is a game to you, then it’s likely you won’t make much money. Again, no judgements if you are doing this as a game.
